Memphis songwriter Jobu Babin had been performing for a few years with percussionist Jason Vawter before meeting up with Opera Memphis vocalist Amy Chan in 2009. After releasing two acclaimed records as Grupo Jobu, the group found a new dynamic as bass virtuoso Poyee Yancy joined.
